Project Description

The project goals include:

• Improve stream bed and bank stability to reduce the potential for erosion.
• Raise bed flow to reconnect to floodplain/ raise groundwater to better hydrate and support floodplain vegetation.
• Improve flood flow storage.
• Improve native riparian vegetation buffer to support biological health and diversity.
• Increase bedform diversity in stream to provide added habitat and food for macroinvertebrates and fish.
• Improve hyporheic zone and exchange for improved water quality and ecosystem health.

Project Location

This restoration project will be taking place along the Schneider Branch main channel immediately downstream of Segment 1, near Intersection of Lee Rd and Penrose Pl.

Project Phase

The project is currently in the design phase. 

Timeline

The design phase was completed in 2025, and construction is expected to start in in Winter 2026 post the permitting process.

Project Cost and Funding Source

The study and design of the Schneider Branch - Segment 2 at Lee Road is estimated to cost approximately $2.3 million. Funding for construction is dependent upon future budget availability and allocations. Stormwater projects are funded through the county Stormwater Service District.
