Project Background
Lafayette Village is facing significant erosion and sediment influx primarily due to increased surface runoff in its urban stream. With this project, the County intends to quantify Stream Sediment Erosion Rate and Nutrient Loading, and to understand Stream Restoration Efficiency.
Project Description
The project goals include:
- Reduce nutrient transport downstream to support overall watershed goals of improving water quality and functions.
- Retrofit the existing stormwater detention basin through a constructed wetland.
- Protect and improve bed form diversity, aquatic and riparian health.
Project Location
The proposed project is located within the vicinity of Mt. Airey Lane in Annandale in Accotink Creek watershed.
Project Phase
The project is currently in the design phase.
