FAIRFAX, Va. – An inmate from the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC) who had been receiving advanced medical care at a local hospital passed away this morning at 2:45.

The inmate was transported  and admitted to the hospital earlier this year to receive specialized medical treatment beyond the level of care available at the ADC. While admitted to the hospital, the inmate was transitioned to hospice care.

In accordance with Fairfax County Sheriff's Office policy, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) investigates all in-custody deaths. FCPD was notified immediately and responded to the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
