FAIRFAX, Va. — Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) deputies announced a medical emergency Thursday morning when they discovered a male inmate unresponsive in his cell at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC).

Deputies and ADC medical personnel immediately began conducting CPR until Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded to continue lifesaving efforts. However, the inmate was pronounced dead at 7:25 a.m. 

In accordance with FCSO policy for all in-custody deaths, an autopsy will be performed, and the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) will conduct an investigation.
