FAIRFAX, Va. – Fairfax County Sheriff’s deputies announced a medical emergency Wednesday afternoon when they discovered a male inmate unresponsive in his cell at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center (ADC).
Deputies and on-site medical personnel immediately responded and began providing emergency aid to the inmate, who had been held without bond since July 18 on a trespassing charge. Fairfax County Fire and Rescue responded and continued lifesaving efforts. However, the inmate was pronounced dead at 5:11 p.m.
There is no indication of foul play, and the death appears to be from natural causes. In accordance with FCSO policy for all in-custody deaths, an autopsy will be performed, and the Fairfax County Police Department will conduct an investigation.
