This work can be achieved through department/agency Equity Impact Plans (EIPs) – a necessary step that can catalyze meaningful action towards institutional and structural change. Equity Impact Plans:
What's In an Equity Impact Plan?
I am delighted to announce the release of the calendar year 2025 Equity Impact Plans and the calendar year 2024 Annual Reports for over 40 departments. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated department leaders and staff whose hard work and commitment have been instrumental in developing, implementing, and evaluating these crucial plans.
The Equity Impact Plans highlight each department’s unique contributions to advancing racial and social equity, showcasing our unwavering dedication to creating a more equitable and just community for all residents. Common themes across these plans include fostering a more diverse workforce to better serve our diverse population, actively engaging community members in programming and decision-making, and leveraging both quantitative data and qualitative insights from community members and staff to guide our progress and future direction.
Looking ahead, we will utilize technology to analyze and integrate Equity Impact Plans across departments and align them with other countywide initiatives. This approach will help us identify areas of synergy and facilitate more effective collaboration among departments engaged in complementary work. Our collective efforts, both within government and with external partners, are essential to building thriving communities now and in the future. By working together and prioritizing equity, we can create a stronger, more vibrant Fairfax County where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Thank you once again for your dedication and hard work. Together, we are making a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents.
