Here’s what you need to know:
The Student Pass SmarTrip card can ONLY be used on Fairfax Connector, City of Fairfax CUE and specific Northern Virginia Metrobus routes listed in the table below.
When you board the bus simply tap the card on the farebox and GO! Even though it's free, make sure to always use your card to get on the bus.
If you wish to use Metrorail or any other transit system that accepts SmarTrip you will need a standard SmarTrip card.
Cannot be used on Metrorail or any Metrobus route outside of Virginia (ABSOLUTELY NO USE in DC or Maryland) If you attempt to use the card on a non-approved route outside of Northern Virginia your card will be deactivated and you will not be issued a new one.
Does not carry any cash value. You can’t add money to it like a regular SmarTrip card.
Works between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 10 p.m.
