This planning section in the Office of Emergency Management have created with the support of their partners, plans that include our Emergency Operations Plan, our Pre-Disaster Recovery Plan, and the Northern Virginia Hazard Mitigation Plan. These plans are accessible by the public to enhance their knowledge on operations of the county before, during, and after a disaster.
Emergency Operations Plan
The Fairfax County Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) is a multi-discipline, all-hazards plan that establishes a single, comprehensive framework for the management of major emergencies and disasters within the County. The EOP establishes the overall roles and responsibilities for emergency operations, as well as the concept of operations for the County.
The Fairfax County Pre-Disaster Recovery Plan (PDRP) is a multi-discipline, all-hazards plan that establishes a single, comprehensive framework for managing the recovery from major disasters affecting the County. The PDRP is designed to guide recovery actions that result in a resilient, safe, physically accessible, sustainable, and economically strong community.
Northern Virginia Hazard Mitigation Plan
Approved by the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors in April 2017, the Northern Virginia Hazard Mitigation Plan identifies hazards, establishes mitigation goals and objectives, and identifies projects that will help prepare for and reduce the impacts of natural disasters. The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all localities to adopt a hazard mitigation plan in order to be eligible for funding under the Pre-Disaster and Hazard Mitigation Grant Programs.
