An after-action report (AAR) is a process used by organizations to evaluate their response to a real-world event or disaster exercise, to learn from their experiences and improve their preparedness for future events. It is a critical tool for continuous improvement and enhancing the resilience of the community in the face of future emergencies.
The COVID-19 pandemic was an unprecedented public health crisis that challenged many aspects of society, including public health systems, emergency management, and community resilience. The COVID-19 AAR allowed Fairfax County to evaluate the effectiveness of these efforts, identify areas for improvement, and make recommendations for future response efforts.
