Online Training for Grief and Loss

Grief and loss are an inevitable part of life. For foster parents, children in foster care and birth parents, it can be a significant issue. When you take training in this area, it can help you to recognize and respond to the signs of grief in the children you care for. It also helps foster parents to be better equipped to deal with the sense of loss you might feel when a child leaves your home.

holding handsFoster Parent College is a convenient way to access online training on the stages of Grief and Loss and other topics important to foster families. Foster Parent College is an approved source of in-service credits that foster parents may take in the comfort of your homes on your own schedule. As a foster parent with Fairfax County, the classes are available at no cost to you.

If you have never used Foster Parent College before, and you are not sure how to get started, contact Terri Henderson or Lauren DeFife for help.

Families must complete certification in the New Generation PRIDE course in their first year before taking other online courses through Foster Parent College. A minimum of 10 hours of in-service training is required per year with no more than half of these hours obtained utilizing approved self-paced training like Foster Parent College.
