Being a landlord requires you to become knowledgeable of and follow numerous federal, state and local regulations. For general information about what landlords should know in Fairfax County, visit the Consumer Services Division website. Information pertaining to fair housing can be found on the Human Rights and Equity Programs website.

This page is specifically tailored to helping landlords understand the requirements surrounding the federally funded Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV). The program is designed to assist very-low-income households meet the high-cost demands of living in the local rental market by issuing “tenant-based” vouchers. Applicants and participants  with these vouchers may seek out landlords and housing opportunities in the private sector.
