Who Picks Up My Trash?

This message is for Fairfax County SWMP collection customers only. Residents with private trash collectors should contact their waste collection company for any holiday schedule changes.

Christmas Tree Disposal

Christmas trees will be collected during the first two weeks of January for recycling (January 1 – 12, 2018). Lights, decorations and stands must be removed to ensure collection. After January 12, 2018 please schedule a brush pickup to have the christmas tree removed.

All of our program information is available online at https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/publicworks/recycling-trash.

If you have any questions about our holiday collection schedule, please call 703-802-3322.

Thank you for your continued support of our program.

Private Collector

This applies to most county residents. Residents are billed by the collection company or pay via their Home Owner Association fees. Find a list of registered solid waste collection companies.

County Government

This applies to residents who live in Solid Waste Collection Areas (Sanitary Districts). These areas are created through a petition process. Residents are billed on their annual tax assessment. More information about the county collection service.

Still Unsure?

If you're still not sure who provides your trash service, call 703-802-3322, TTY 711 for assistance.  Remember, you can always self-haul your trash, using your own vehicle, to a county facility. Recyclables can be taken to area drop-off centers.
