Who Picks Up My Trash?

NOTICE: Mulch will be UNAVAILABLE at the I-95 landfill complex until mid-March 2019. A project to repair a concrete pad starts December 12, 2018.

Most county residents are serviced by a PRIVATE COLLECTION company. Residents are billed by the collection company or pay via their Home Owner Association fees.

Do you live in the yellow highlighted area on the Collection Areas Map? If so, you are a County Collection Customer. If you live on a boundary or have questions about who collects your trash, please call 703-802-3322, TTY 711 for assistance. For best results, enter your full street address including house number in the search bar.


Fairfax County serves residents who live in Solid Waste Collection Areas (Sanitary Districts). These areas are created through a petition process. Residents are billed on their annual tax assessment. For more information, visit County Collection Customers.

If you're still not sure who provides your trash service, call 703-802-3322, TTY 711 for assistance.  Remember, you can always self-haul your trash, using your own vehicle, to a county disposal facility I-66 Transfer Station and I-95 Landfill Complex. Recyclables can be taken to area drop-off centers.
