Who Picks Up My Trash?

County

About ten percent (10%) of residents and businesses in Fairfax County receive trash and recycling collection from Fairfax County Government.

Private

In most cases, ninety percent (90%) of residents and businesses in Fairfax County, a private collection company picks up your trash and recycling. Residents are billed by the collection company or pay via their Home Owner Association fees. Please contact your provider directly regarding services. If so, Fairfax County picks up your trash and you are a County Collection Customer. If you live on a boundary or have questions about who collects your trash, please call 703-802-3322, TTY 711 for assistance. COUNTY COLLECTION CUSTOMERS

Fairfax County serves residents who live in Solid Waste Collection Areas (Sanitary Districts). These areas are created through a petition process. Residents are billed on their annual tax assessment. For more information, visit County Collection Customers.
