Project Background
The project entails the evaluation of the existing site conditions and establishment of a design approach to alleviate channel instability and stormwater basin failure within the project site. This project will stabilize the stream channel while effectively mitigating excessive erosion with features that enhance the hydrologic, hydraulic, and ecologic functions of the system.
Project Description
The study site includes stream stabilization/restoration of four Cameron Run Tributaries and a restoration/retrofit of Loftridge Upper Regional Pond. The project aims to address bank and bed erosion, which is contributing excessive sediment, nutrients and impairing biological conditions to the tributaries. This instability erodes private property, undermines trees causing them to fall, and threatens sanitary and storm sewer infrastructure throughout the stream valley. This project is part of larger efforts to restore many of Fairfax County’s degraded streams while improving overall water quality and the condition of the Chesapeake Bay.
Project Location
The proposed project is in Clermont Park to the north of Franconia Road in Cameron Run watershed.

Project Phase
The project is currently in the design phase.
