On November 1, 2018, the Fairfax County Police Department arrested a former deputy sheriff, Tenzin Kunkyab, on a charge of simple assault related to a December 20, 2017 use-of-force incident in the Adult Detention Center. Following the incident, the Sheriff’s Office Internal Affairs Section relieved Kunkyab of duty and conducted an administrative investigation. As a result of the investigation, Kunkyab a two-year employee, resigned on February 6, 2018 in lieu of termination.
