On March 28, 2022, at approximately 9:20 a.m., a Sheriff’s deputy found a male inmate unresponsive in his cell in the Adult Detention Center (ADC). A medical emergency was called and rescue was summoned. The deputy immediately rendered aid until relieved by ADC medical personnel. Rescue arrived, continued lifesaving measures and transported the inmate to a hospital. The inmate was pronounced deceased by hospital personnel.

Fairfax County Sheriff's Office policy dictates that an in-custody death must be investigated by the Fairfax County Police Department. The investigation is underway. Look for updates on the Police Department news blog when additional information becomes available.
