Fees for service are generally governed by Va. Code §17.1-272.
The fee for general service on behalf of an in-state entity is $12. Payment must be cash, certified check or money order. No other form of payment (including company/firm checks) will be accepted.
For any MONEY ORDER, whether to pay in-state, out-of-state or sheriff's sale notice fees, the signature of the purchaser is required on the front, at the bottom.
The process and service fee for serving any papers returnable to an out-of-state entity is $80 ($75 plus $5 notary fee). Payment must be a cashier's check, certified check or money order. No other form of payment (including company/firm checks) will be accepted.
- Out-of-state service requires two copies of the documents to be served and a self-addressed stamped envelope. Please ensure that return postage is sufficient.
- The $80 fee is per address, entity, corporation or individual.
- Service will be in person only, unless substitute service is authorized in writing.
The fee for posting a Sheriff's Sale notice is $100. Payment must be cash, certified check or money order. No other form of payment (including company/firm checks) will be accepted.
