In this competition, 5-member teams of high school students test their environmental science knowledge in aquatics, wildlife, forestry, soil science, and a special topic that changes each year. The 2022-2023 special topic is Climate Change.
Youth Conservation Camp - High School Environmental Opportunities
Students from across Virginia attend this week-long summer camp to enhance conservation knowledge, learn from experts in the field, and enjoy the outdoors. Held on the Virginia Tech campus. NVSWCD provides a partial scholarship for two attendees each year.
College Scholarships for Conservation and the Environment
An $1000 scholarship is available to high school seniors or college freshmen planning to study conservation or environment-related fields from the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts Educational Foundation.
YCLI is a unique opportunity for high school students to receive experience and engage in networking opportunities to prepare them for future education and career paths. Participants learn about conservation and participate in a year-long project of their choice.
We provide organizational awards to students who have done outstanding investigation on topics relating to local natural resources each year at the Fairfax County Regional Science and Engineering Fair.
Open to K-12 students with patches available for scouts who participate. Categories include traditional and digital art. The 2023 theme is "One Water".
