(Posted 2022 June, Updated July 2022)

Our volunteers and partners are the backbone of the Volunteer & Partner Services Program. We couldn’t do our work supporting children and families in our community without the commitment of each volunteer, donor and sponsor. Believe it or not, we are already planning our work for next school year, and recruiting volunteer mentors, tutors*, and facilitators is essential. Check out the opportunities to help make a difference for families with children at-risk of abuse and neglect.

BeFriend-A-Child has fully transitioned back to in-person! If you’re looking to serve children in your community, becoming a mentor is a great way to positively impact a child’s life. The program’s strongest need is for male mentors, Spanish-speaking mentors, and African American mentors, but we welcome all mentors! For more information, please contact the BeFriend-A-Child coordinator via email or at 703-324-7072. If you are interested, you can sign up online. Save the date for our next new mentor training on Saturday, September 17.

We are always looking for volunteer facilitators who are comfortable in school and classroom settings! This is a great volunteer opportunity for individuals with daytime availability. The next facilitator training is on Friday, August 19. For more information, please contact Francesca Watson via email or at 703-324-7459.

We are currently recruiting for volunteer facilitators for upcoming summer and fall Parenting Education classes. This is a great opportunity for those with evening availability and who have an interest in supporting children and parents build strong bonds and communication skills to strengthen family units. For more information, please email Arrika Freeman or call 703-324-7871.

*Recruitment for the Study Buddy Tutoring Program is on hold. We will begin recruiting again for tutors in the fall. Be on the lookout for more information!
