We provide in-home care services* through two programs. We also provide a listing of private non-agency providers called the Home Care Registry.
*In-home care refers to a wide range of services that help people remain in their own homes. This can include housekeeping, grocery shopping, bathing, etc.

Adult Services - Services are available on the basis of eligibility after an assessment by a Department of Family Services' social worker.
ElderLink - Services are available on a sliding scale basis depending on income.
Home Care Registry - The private providers on this list are not affiliated with an agency and may be more affordable. They have been screened by the county’s Adult and Aging Division, which includes an interview, reference checks, criminal history checks and a tuberculosis test. The screening does not include observation of direct caregiving skills.
We Help People with Concerns About Provided In-Home Care Providers
The Fairfax County Medical Respite Program (MRP) is a collaborative effort among the Department of Family Services (DFS), the Health Department (HD), and the Office to Prevent and End Homelessness (OPEH). Through this partnership, a coordinated team of Family Safety Practitioners (FSP), Nurse Practitioners (NP), Home Health Aides (HHA), and shelter staff provides a safe place for adult residents of Fairfax County experiencing literal homelessness to recover from an acute medical event. The program offers ten designated Medical Respite beds, eight for males and two for females, located within two of the County’s homeless shelters, Embry Rucker and Bailey’s Shelters.
