This project is a continuation of the Big Rocky Run at Braddock Road project. The site was evaluated by Fairfax County staff in 2021 and placed on the Capital Improvement Project work plan for Fiscal Year 2023. A study was initiated by staff in February 2023, to perform wetland delineation, vegetative inventory, and determine the presence (or lack thereof) of several threatened or endangered species. Fairfax County staff began negotiations in with a consultant in August 2023 to determine the scope of the restoration project, and the consultant was given notice to proceed with design in January 2024.

The project extents are located in Rocky Run Stream Valley Park, with Braddock Road serving as the upstream limit and Awbrey Patent Drive serving as the downstream limit.
The project has entered the 65% design phase.
