FAIRFAX, VA. – Joshua Silver, a former sergeant with the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office, has been charged today with Assault and Battery against an individual who was arrested and brought to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center on September 11, 2024.
Today, the Sheriff’s Office is releasing in-car video that captured the incident. While criminal charges and administrative investigations are pending, the Sheriff’s Office cannot comment on the specific facts of the case. Silver was immediately placed on administrative leave and the Sheriff’s Office has taken all necessary administrative actions upon learning of the incident. Silver is no longer employed with the Sheriff’s Office.
Per agency policy, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) investigated the matter and determined that criminal charges were appropriate. The Sheriff’s Office has cooperated fully with the investigation and will continue to work with the FCPD.
