On April 23, 2018, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a medical emergency occurred in the Adult Detention Center. A 47-year-old white female in a direct supervision housing unit did not come down from her cell for dinner. The post deputy went to her cell and found her unresponsive. Several deputies and medical staff immediately responded to the emergency, started life saving measures and called for rescue. Rescue responded, continued lifesaving measures and transported the inmate to Fairfax Hospital. She was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:26 p.m. Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office policy dictates that an in-custody death must be investigated by the Fairfax County Police Department.
