BeFriend-A-Child at Nationals game collageThe BeFriend-A-Child Mentoring program hit it out the park with their trip to the Washington Nationals Major League Baseball game against the Cincinnati Reds. The group braved the sweltering heat to enjoy America’s pastime – many for the first time! The kids were happy to enjoy a complimentary hotdog, chips, and a much-needed Rita’s Italian Ice in a Washington Nationals’ souvenir cup!

Surely, this homerun of an event would not have been possible without our longstanding community donor, Tim Barber of Barber Holdings and one of Volunteer and Partner Services’ newer community donors, Tickets for Kids! Barber Holdings graciously supported the BeFriend-A-Child mentors and mentees with a charter bus to make it easier to get everyone to the stadium, while Tickets for Kids, provided the tickets for the group to attend the game.

It was a close game, but both BeFriend and the Washington Nationals were able to pull out a win for the day’s festivities!

If you or anyone you know would like to contribute to the success of the BeFriend-A-Child Mentoring Program by donating to an event, becoming a mentor, or sponsoring a child(ren) for summer camp, feel free to reach out to one of the BeFriend-A-Child coordinators by email or phone at 703-324-7072.
