April is an important month because in addition to its recognition as Child Abuse Prevention Month, April is also Volunteer Appreciation Month when we celebrate our generous volunteers, donors, and partners. We were delighted to have over 160 of you join us for our Annual Volunteer & Partner Appreciation Celebration on April 25 at the Reston Community Center.
This year we honored a variety of volunteers and donors by inviting them to share their stories of partnering with VPS to make an impact on our community. We started the night off by continuing our tradition of having a beautiful performance by Harmony Roads – Magic Hand Orchestra. Afterward, guests were treated to dinner and dessert. In addition, through the generosity of the community, guests had the opportunity to receive prizes with a total value of over $20,000.
Our goal was to celebrate each donor, partner, and volunteer who has continued to make a difference in a child’s life by supporting our programs. Whether that is by way of monetary contribution or in-kind donation, volunteering to facilitate a Body Safety Class or becoming a BeFriend-A-Child Mentor, hosting a toy drive or making a baby box, volunteering to be an Administrative Assistant, making a quilt or crocheting a stuffed animal, or even adopting a family during the holiday season, every effort to help a family has gone a long way to support our community and we are so grateful to all of you.
Your dedication and commitment to aiding the children and families in Fairfax County truly makes a difference, and no contribution is ever too small. We hope you all felt appreciated because this one night is just a small token of our gratitude for all you do throughout the year.
