Volunteer and Partner Services is excited to welcome Litzy Reyes, as an intern with the Body Safety program this spring semester. A native of Springfield, VA, Reyes previously worked as a receptionist and now she is focusing on her studies with a goal of working with Child Protective Services after graduation. Reyes is currently a senior studying criminology at George Mason University who anticipates graduating in August 2026.
Reyes was drawn to child welfare work out of a desire to protect children and support families who are going through challenging situations. She is most looking forward to making an impact through the internship by taking part in child abuse and neglect prevention work through teaching children about personal boundaries, empowerment, and identifying abuse.
According to Reyes, “The most rewarding thing about my work is knowing I’m making a difference because even the little things can have a significant impact on a child’s life. I think the biggest challenge for me might be handling the emotional challenges of the job, and public speaking, but in my opinion this challenge is also what gives this field its meaning and impact.”
When she is not on the job, Reyes loves trying new places to eat, watching shows, going to the gym, spending time with friends, and reading. She went on her dream vacation with my family to Hawaii in 2025, and she would like to travel more.
Be sure to welcome Litzy Reyes if you see her around, as she is excited to work for the Department of Family Services, meet new people, and learn new skills!
