Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) - Human Services Mobility Management - Taxi & Transportation Programs 

Human Services Mobility Management oversees the TOPS Program and the Fairfax Mobility Access Project (FXMAP) Grant which provide transportation services and resources for vulnerable individuals such as older adults, individuals with disabilities and those on limited income. 

Visit us for: Information on the TOPS Program, and the Taxi Pilot Program which offers free taxi rides to older adults and individuals with disabilities to medical appointments within Fairfax County.

Metro/MetroAccess/WMATA – Department of Access Services

Department of Access Services helps individuals find transportation to medical and social outings in their community, traveling independently or with help of a Caregiver.

Community Services Board (CSB) - Employment and Day

The CSB's Employment and Day Services and Residential team provides multiple levels of supported employment and day support services for people with developmental disabilities, serious mental illness and/or substance use disorders. They coordinate with the Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, private businesses, and nonprofit community organizations to provide these services.

Department of Family Services (DFS) - Public Assistance and Employment Services (PAES)

PAES helps individuals and families become self-sufficient and secure a more stable family life, connecting people to county and community resources. They assist with applying for food, medical, financial, and energy assistance programs and help access a wide range of employment services for people of all ages.

Fairfax County Department of Human Resources (DHR)

DHR supports all county agencies by establishing partnerships with them in order to meet the diverse hiring needs of the county. We do this through our divisions that include Benefits, Compensation & Workforce Analysis (CWA), Employee Relations, Employment, HR Information Systems (HRIS), Labor Relations, Payroll, and Occupational Development & Training (OD&T).

Fairfax County Park Authority

The Park Authority’s Mission is to enrich quality of life for all members of the community through an enduring park system that provides a healthy environment, preserves natural and cultural heritage, offers inspiring recreational experiences, and promotes healthy lifestyles These experiences are offered in recreation centers, nature centers, historical sites, golf courses, lakefronts, and parks.

Neighborhood and Community Services – Coordinated Services Planning (CSP)

CSP serves as a central access point for residents seeking help with basic needs such as food, housing, financial assistance, and other community resources. Specialists assess household situations and connect residents to appropriate county programs and nonprofit partners.

Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) - Community Education and Provider Services Program (CEPS)

CEPS Issues Home Child Care permits to those interested in providing care to up to four children in their home, permits are required by law. Also available is the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) which may reimburse providers for a portion of the meals and snacks served, if eligible.

Virginia Department of Treasury, Division of Unclaimed Property

The Virginia Treasury Unclaimed Property Department is a free public service who return lost or inactive accounts to the rightful owner. Unclaimed property can be inactive bank accounts, uncashed checks, stocks, wages or safety deposit box contents. We will hold the funds forever until the rightful owner or their heirs come to claim.

Department of Housing and Community Development, Rental Housing, Home Repair for the Elderly Program and General Intake (HREP) 

HREP is designed to provide minor home repairs and/or accessibility modifications to eligible low- and moderate-income elderly homeowners and individuals with disabilities for homes in which they are currently residing.

Land Development Services (LDS) 

LDS ensures that all development in Fairfax County meets safety and health standards of all applicable codes. They support the disability community by enforcing building code requirements for accessibility in new construction, renovations and modifications.

Community Services Board (CSB)- Entry, Assessment and Referral (EAR) unit  

The CSB provides mental health and substance use treatment for individuals aged 3+ and families. as well as offering support services for individuals with developmental disabilities.  EAR, known as the “front door” of the agency, assists callers and walk-in's seeking behavioral health services, and help connect individuals with appropriate level of care.

Community Services Board (CSB) - Prevention & Wellness - Wellness, Health Promotion & Prevention Program (WHPP) 

The WHPP team strengthens our community’s emotional health and ability to handle challenges related to mental health concerns and substance misuse through trainings, workshops, presentations, and campaigns. They provide suicide prevention, substance misuse prevention and overall mental health promotion training and initiatives.

Department of Family Services (DFS) – Domestic and Sexual Violence Services (DSVS) 

DSVS provides services to people impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, human trafficking, and stalking in Fairfax County. The Prevention, Education, and Coordination Team shares information with the community, supports volunteers, and spreads awareness about these issues.

The Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board - Developmental Disabilities (CSB DD)  

CSB DD support coordinators help individuals and families identify and link to needed services and resources, coordinate and monitor services, provide technical assistance, and advocate for the individual. Provides eligibility determination for the new Home and Community-Based Medicaid Waivers for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.

Fairfax County Department of Emergency Management and Security (DEMS) 

DEMS coordinates county planning, response, support, and recovery efforts before, during and after large-scale events and emergencies. Responsible for developing and implementing county-wide programs and projects that promote disaster planning, training, mitigation, response, prevention, and recovery for all-hazards.

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department (FCFRD)– Life Safety Education Section 

Life Safety Education Section keeps the citizens and community of Fairfax County informed about its policies, procedures, and operations. They provide comprehensive fire and life-safety outreach programs, visiting schools, libraries, community centers, senior centers, and community events to engage County residents on preventative safety measures.

Health Department – Emergency Preparedness & Response (EP&R) 

EP&R works with staff, volunteers, government and community partners, and residents to prepare for, respond to and recover from both natural and human-caused public health emergencies in Fairfax County. The Community Preparedness Program focuses on collaborating with community partners to strengthen community readiness by increasing awareness, building skills, and reducing health risks during emergencies.

Department of Public Safety Communication (DPSC)/Fairfax County 911  

DPSC answers all emergency and non-emergency calls placed in Fairfax County, Fairfax City, the Town of Herndon, and the Town of Vienna. They are the largest public safety answering point in Virginia, and the 10th largest in the nation, receiving approximately 1.2 million calls a year.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) 

The EEOC is the sole federal agency authorized to investigate and litigate against businesses and other private sector employers for violations of federal laws prohibiting employment discrimination on disability, race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, and genetic information. The agency also works to prevent discrimination before it occurs through outreach, education, and technical assistance programs.

Office of Human Rights & Equity Programs (OHREP) 

OHREP works to promote justice, equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusiveness in Fairfax County. It includes the Human Rights Division (HRD), which enforces the county’s Human Rights Ordinance by investigating discrimination complaints in areas such as employment, housing, public accommodations, private education, and credit. HRD also provides free outreach, resources, and training to help prevent discrimination and educate the community.

Cable and Consumer Services- Consumer Services Division  

Consumer Affairs assists consumers through advice inquiries, mediation, arbitration, and outreach. They mediate complaints to ensure businesses and/or landlords are operating in compliance with the Virginia Consumer Protection Act and the Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act.

Access Services Library 

Access Services Library removes barriers to library services for people who cannot read standard print materials or who cannot physically visit a library due to a disability or health condition. 

Visit us for: Assistance with signing up for a library card (you MUST have a photo ID to sign up for a card), determining eligibility and assisting with Home Delivery and Talking Book services and providing information about items from the Library of Things collection that may interest the disability community.  Sensory items will be displayed in the Sensory Room in room 7.

Department of Family Services (DFS) - Adult & Aging’s Volunteer Solutions (VS) 

VS connects volunteers with meaningful opportunities to support older adults, adults with disabilities, and family caregivers.

Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) – Technology Lending Program 

Fairfax County Neighborhood and Community Services (NCS) provides digital access and literacy programs to enhance technology skills for residents in underserved communities, seniors, and families. Offerings include computer labs, internet access, digital literacy workshops, Lending Programs for equipment like 3D printers, and specialized tech training.

Visit us for: NCS Technology Lending Program, including 3D printers, Cricut machines, VR glasses, and Canon EOS cameras.   

Things to Keep in Mind

  • Free parking is available outside the Government Center.
  • Be ready to stand for a few hours.
  • There will only be a few places to sit during the event.  
  • Anticipate ten minutes per booth.
  • Event guides can direct you to the booths you want to visit.
  • The room may get hot or cold, so wear layers.
  • You can buy food and drinks at the first-floor cafeteria and vending machines. An elevator or stairs are available to go there.
  • Water fountains are located by the restrooms.
  • You will receive a tote bag.
  • Bring paper and pen if you would like to take notes.
  • An official ID may be required to sign up for certain services.

Enjoy this dedicated, sensory-friendly space designed for relaxation and engagement, featuring flexible seating, interactive tools, and calming activities for all ages. It supports community well-being with sensory-rich resources, including tools for neurodiverse visitors.
