Caregivers can often find themselves in a complex emotional and physical position, balancing their own well-being with the needs of those they care for. With the constant demands that caregiving entails, caregivers may be left feeling isolated, overwhelmed and unsure where to turn for support. It is no secret that despite the many rewards the caregiving journey can bring, challenges are a natural part of the process as well.

For caregivers that may not have the time or ability to attend an in-person support group, ElderLink offers a monthly virtual support call via the Microsoft Teams platform. The Virtual Support Call provides a safe space for caregivers to share their struggles, gain emotional support, build connections with other caregivers, receive practical advice and find resources to help navigate the difficulties that can come with caregiving.

The Virtual Support Call focuses on a different topic each month that pertains to the caregiving journey. Each call is facilitated by an ElderLink Case Manager who not only provides expertise and insight, but also ensures that each participant can openly discuss what they experience as a caregiver, and encourages the collaboration and sharing of ideas.

Caregiving is a unique and personal experience, but it does not have to be faced alone. By seeking support, caregivers can better care for themselves, which ultimately allows them to provide better care for their loved ones.

The Virtual Support Call for Caregivers of Older Adults hosted by ElderLink occurs the second Tuesday of each month from 7-8 p.m. For more information and to register please visit tinyurl.com/CaregiverTSG or call ElderLink’s Intake Line at 703-324-5374, TTY 711.
