Looking for a powerful way to market your product or service? Consider advertising in the Golden Gazette.

The Golden Gazette is a free monthly community newsletter that covers a variety of topics and community news concerning older adults and caregivers in Fairfax County. Approximately 23,000 people subscribe to the print and email versions of the Golden Gazette. Printed copies are available in all Fairfax County Public Libraries, Senior Centers, and various other locations. The Golden Gazette is also available online. Advertisements appear in the print and email versions of the Golden Gazette but are not included on the website.

Advertising art must be 300 dpi resolution and black and white/grayscale. Acceptable file types: JPEG, PDF and PNG. Art must be sent electronically to the editor via email at DFSGoldenGazette@FairfaxCounty.gov.

Advertising art must conform to standard sizes/dimensions as indicated on the advertising agreement. If the ad does not meet specified requirements, it will be resized to fit/float in the space or returned for redesign as determined by the Golden Gazette editor.

Custom ad design is available for a fee of $25. All design elements – text, images, graphics and logos – must be furnished by the advertiser. Design requests and design elements are due one month prior to the ad deadline.

No special placement requests with the exception of the back cover ad. There are no guarantees as to the location/page number or placement in the publication by the County. Location and placement is determined solely by the County.

  1. As a public agency, we cannot accept advertising deemed to be in violation of the best interests of the Department of Family Services Adult and Aging or any other agency/ department of the Fairfax County government, including but not necessarily limited to:
    • Political candidates or political parties,
    • Tobacco products,
    • Alcoholic beverages,
    • Entities that practice or promote discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability,
    • Any other advertising deemed to be in violation of the best interests of DFS Adult and Aging or any other agency/department of the Fairfax County Government
    • X-rated movies, adult book stores and other goods/ services deemed inappropriate for promotion to family audience.
  2. DFS Adult and Aging and its contracted printer assume that all necessary permission has been obtained by the advertiser for use of logos, photos and testimonials.
  3. Advertising is accepted on the premise that the merchandise and services offered are accurately described and available at the advertised price. Deceptive advertising and advertising that does not conform to this standard will be rejected. Advertising that might be construed as editorial matter must be labeled “Advertisement.”
  4. Advertisements are accepted for publication entirely on the representation that the agency and/or advertiser are properly authorized to publish the pertinent subject matter. It is understood that the advertiser and/or agency will fully indemnify and hold harmless the County against any judgment, costs, expenses, or disbursements incurred by reason of claim or suits for libel, violation of privacy, plagiarism or copyright infringement based on the content or subject matter of such advertisements.
  5. DFS Adult and Aging does not assume any responsibility for ad errors beyond the actual cost of the ad itself. Advertisers are advised to check their ad on the first insertion and report any errors immediately. Adjustments will be made only for the first incorrect insertion and only on errors that materially affect the value of the advertisement.
  6. In the event an advertisement includes a photograph or testimonial, DFS Adult and Aging reserves the right to require a release from individuals represented.
  7. In the event that furnished copy is not published, no liability shall exist on the part of DFS Adult and Aging and there will be no charge.

Your advertisement only will run if a current signed advertising agreement and full payment, in accordance with your advertising agreement, is received on the first day of the month prior to the month of publication (e.g., January 1 is the deadline for the February issue). We do not provide invoices. Checks are the only form of payment accepted.
