How To Help

Prepare yourself and your family for emergencies by making a kit and having a plan. Help your community by volunteering for the Medical Reserve Corps. Stay informed by signing up for Fairfax Alerts. Take advantage of the other resources, tips and training offered by the Health Department.

The Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response puts its skills, knowledge and experience to use in coordinating the Health Department’s emergency preparedness and response activities. When there is a public health emergency, the Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response is here to help. We set the strategy for emergency response, engaging the entire community and training volunteers. We stockpile the equipment, supplies and vehicles needed to respond to emergencies. And we work with key partners like long-term care facilities and dialysis center to help them prepare to meet the needs of residents impacted by disasters.
