Green Building Priority Plan Review

To promote green building practices, qualifying residential and commercial projects are eligible for the following benefits during the building plan review process:

  • Immediate plan assignment
  • An assigned county project manager to ensure smooth processing (commercial only)
  • Pre- and post-submission meetings if desired by the design team

Qualifying criteria include:

  • Compliance with the International Green Construction Code (IgCC)
  • Compliance with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) – RESIDENTIAL PROJECTS ONLY (without Virginia Amendments)
  • LEED rating of silver or above Earthcraft select or premium status
  • Three to five “globes” under the Green Globes certification program
  • Living Building Challenge
  • Net Zero Energy Building
  • Passive House Institute US (PHIUS)
  • National Green Building Standard

Submission documents must include verification of the LEED, IgCC, Earthcraft or Green Globe programs with corresponding checklists.
