Town Meeting Mailer

Town Meeting Banner

Dear Neighbor,

HAPPY NEW YEAR! 2017 in the Mount Vernon District brought many exciting changes and interesting challenges. While improving our quality of life and revitalizing our community, we have been focused on advocating for and delivering great schools, public safety improvements and increased community engagement. I believe it is important to protect our environment, while working to develop jobs, ease your commute, increase transit options and create connected, walkable, friendly communities. We want our residents to develop their unique talents, raise their families and fulfill their aspirations, while enjoying the Mount Vernon community.

TEAM Mount Vernon (your Mount Vernon District staff) is a diverse and dedicated group committed to making a positive difference for you. Each day we strive to provide outstanding constituent service, including answering your phone calls on the first ring, returning calls and emails within two working days, and sending out regular communications. Here are some ways our office can help you:

◾Connecting you with the right County services.

◾Sharing information about issues in your community.

◾Communicating meetings and events happening near you.

◾Answering questions about property zoning and maintenance.

Our TEAM’s 2018 focus will remain on increasing private investment to complement the hundreds of millions of dollars in public investments being made to further revitalize and grow our District. The Richmond Highway Corridor revitalization, eight school renovations, new parks, environmental improvements and the redevelopment of the Original Mount Vernon High School continue to be top priorities for the District, with new public projects like the Lorton Community Center and the South County Police Station and Animal Shelter in their planning stages.

Also new in 2018, be sure to check out our recently launched modern County and District website! This greatly enhanced communication tool will provide community calendars, event postings, information on constituent issues, project status updates and much more!

Respectfully yours in public service,

Dan Storck

Supervisor, Mount Vernon District

This unique former prison complex is being rejuvenated into a vibrant urban village with residences, workplaces, shopping and green space. When complete, the development will include 165 historic apartments, 157 townhomes, 24 single-family homes, a clubhouse, a swimming pool, and more than 110,000 square feet of shops, restaurants and offices. Liberty is scheduled for completion in 2019.
