Town Meeting Mailer 2022

Dear Neighbor,

I invite you to join us for a Mount Vernon District (MVD) annual tradition Ð the 35th Annual Town Meeting Ð on Saturday morning, February 12, 2022, in person at Mount Vernon High School and streaming on Channel 16 and Facebook. Again this year, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation, taking all CDC recommended safeguards, and will adjust our format as needed. The show will go on and we look forward to engaging with hundreds of our highly informed, passionate residents for this community-wide event. You will hear County and District updates, participate in Q & A’s with your local leaders, and learn about available County and community services. The highlight of the morning will be a “virtual tour” of the changing Mount Vernon District from Huntington to Lorton!

This newsletter is another of our annual traditions to inform you of our key accomplishments of the past year and focus for the coming year. Please take a moment to view our photo gallery and mark your calendars for our 2022 events! We encourage you to contact us at MTVernon@FairfaxCounty.gov or 703-780-7518 to tell us what you think of this Advisor. Your feedback is important to us!

2021 was another unusual year with all of us still in a pandemic, despite a vaccine, keeping our community safe and trying to get to a post-pandemic life! We chose the site for the new Penn Daw Fire Station & Emergency Housing, initiated a Richmond Highway speed study to improve safety on our main street, redistricted our County magisterial boundaries, completed the residential phase of the Liberty redevelopment and are working to transform a former Lorton landfill into a park.

TEAM MVD and I are committed to working with you to address your individual concerns, deliver a better quality of life and ensure every Mount Vernon neighbor, community and business has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Respectfully yours in public service,

Supervisor, Mount Vernon District
