Dear Neighbor,

I invite you to join us for a Mount Vernon District (MVD) annual tradition—the 37th Annual Town Meeting—on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Mount Vernon High School and streaming on Channel 16 and Facebook. The highlight of our year is engaging with hundreds of you, our highly informed, passionate residents and business owners for this fun and informative day. You will hear community updates, participate in Q & A’s with your local leaders and take a trip with us on a virtual tour of what’s happening from Huntington to Lorton! Come early to enjoy the very popular Exhibit Hall featuring County and community services and then stay after for our newest addition—The Taste of Mount Vernon featuring many local restaurants.

This newsletter is another of our annual commitments to you, keeping you informed of key accomplishments of the past year and our focus and plans for the coming year. Be sure to check out our 2023 photo highlights and mark your calendars for 2024 events! Please contact my office at MTVernon@FairfaxCounty.gov or 703-780-7518 to tell us what you think of this year’s Advisor. Your feedback is important to us!

This year we opened the Lorton Police Station and Animal Shelter and a new section of the Mount Vernon Memorial Highway Trail, connecting the existing trail from the Mount Vernon Estate to Richmond Highway. We launched a new “Potomac Banks: Explore Fairfax South” savings pass and map and attended hundreds of events and community meetings. In 2024, TEAM MVD and I are looking forward to continuing to engage even more with each and every one of you. If you have a community event, HOA meeting, religious service or any occasion you would like me to attend or make remarks, please contact our office.

TEAM MVD and I are committed to working with you to address your individual concerns, deliver a better quality of life and ensure every Mount Vernon District neighbor, community and business has the opportunity to reach their full potential, while making our District the best place to live, learn, work and play!

Respectfully yours in public service,

Dan Storck
Supervisor, Mount Vernon District

A huge thank you to outgoing School Board Member Karen Corbett Sanders for her dedication to our community and her 8 years of outstanding service.
