SWAT

The SWAT Team was established in 1975 and officially designated as a full-time tactical unit in 1985. Today, the team consists of 13 full-time members, 26 decentralized members, and two full-time SWAT paramedics who provide specialized tactical and emergency medical support. The team maintains 24-hour, 365-day on-call coverage for the County and responds to approximately 100 to 120 tactical operations annually throughout the County.

Primary Responsibilities

Crisis response

Managing barricade and hostage situations.

High-risk warrants

Executing high-risk search warrants.

Dignitary protection

Providing VIP and dignitary protection operations.

Training & Development

In addition to its operational mission, the SWAT Team also serves a vital departmental role by providing tactical training, instruction, and professional development to personnel throughout the police department.
