If you pass the background check and qualify for the ID card, you will receive an email about scheduling an appointment to complete the ID card process. PLEASE NOTE: In addition to the background check, we also search the VA BAR website for your name to verify that you can practice law in Virginia. If you have opted out of the directory, we cannot process an ID card for you. 

The application is good for six months from the date of the email. If you fail to schedule the appointment to receive the ID card within six months, you must re-start the application process.
