A 38-year-old man was committed to the Adult Detention Center on March 5, 2019, on a charge of aggravated sexual battery. He was being held without bond. On May 5 at 6:42 a.m., a medical emergency was called when post deputies found the inmate attempting suicide. Several deputies and medical staff responded and performed lifesaving measures until rescue arrived. At 7:12 a.m., rescue transported the inmate to the hospital.    

Fairfax County Sheriff's Office policy dictates that an in-custody death must be investigated by the Fairfax County Police Department. Look for updates on the Police Department blog when additional information becomes available.
