On the night of September 21, 2024, a Sheriff’s deputy found a 37-year-old male inmate unresponsive in his cell at the Adult Detention Center (ADC) and announced a medical emergency. Additional deputies and medical staff immediately responded to render aid. Rescue was called and transported the inmate to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

Per Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office policy, all in-custody deaths are investigated by the Fairfax County Police Department. The FCPD was notified immediately and responded to the ADC.
