The Fairfax County Citizen Corps Council is a component of the USA Freedom Corps established after the September 11th attacks. The Council's goal is to make Fairfax County safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to emergency situations by promoting federal and state volunteer initiatives, enhance services, facilitate the exchange of information and training, support partnerships. and enhance community pride. The Citizen Corps includes the County's Neighborhood Watch, Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS), the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), the Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), the Fire Corps, and affiliate organizations.
