Foster Care Month Community Events Aim to Move Awareness to Action

Foster Care Month Community Event Moves Awareness to Action

Fairfax County Foster Care and Adoption invites the community to attend two special events in recognition of National Foster Care Month this May.

Join us Tuesday, April 29, 5-7 p.m. at the Lorton Library or Tuesday, May 20, 7-8:30 p.m. at the Burke Centre Library as we raise awareness and encourage community involvement in supporting children in foster care.

Supporting Foster Care Changes Lives!

These children need the caring support of our community to overcome their challenges.

Foster parents play an unmatched role in providing loving, temporary homes for children, while supporting their biological parents and other relatives in their efforts to enhance and stabilize their family relationships until children reach permanency. We can always use more dedicated foster parents!

“Awareness to Action” Community Special Events

You’ll hear from Fairfax County Foster Care social workers, current foster parents, and community partners eager to share other ways to get involved.

Whether you are simply curious about what foster care is like or you are seriously considering becoming a foster parent, these meetings are the perfect chance to get all your questions answered. You’ll walk away understanding:

  • The steps to become a foster parent.
  • How to get involved.
  • How to help us reach your network and increase community support for foster families.

Join us in taking awareness to action and making a difference in the lives of children in our community. Together, we can support foster care and change lives!

Feel free to drop in or register online to let us know that you are planning to come. For general questions, call 703-324-7639, email, or visit our website. Share our event flyer with a friend!
