The BeFriend-A-Child Mentoring program marked the end of summer with an exciting pool party at Reston’s Water Mine Swimming Hole. This annual celebration brought together mentors and mentees to enjoy a fun-filled day of swimming and camaraderie.

For some mentees, there was a lot of excitement around their first time testing their swimming skills, while others confidently enjoyed their favorite water activities. Whatever the case, the kids were all smiles as they raced down water slides, splashed in the pools, and created lasting memories with their mentors. It was clear that everyone had a fantastic time.

Beyond the water fun, we were grateful to distribute generous donations from the Fairfax County Democratic Committee and Capital One. They provided fully stocked backpacks to help the mentees, and their school-aged siblings prepare for the upcoming school year. This kind gesture from our community partners alleviated a significant burden for parents.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped to make this a memorable and meaningful event. Here’s to many more shared moments and successful school years ahead!
