The Annual Spring Gathering is one of the most anticipated events we offer our BeFriend-A-Child Mentoring program participants and their families. Held in May, the wonderful day was filled with exciting activities, delicious food, and heartfelt moments that strengthened the bonds between family and friends.

A fast-paced, energetic game of gaga ball was a hit! Kids and adults alike cheered each other on enthusiastically. Following that, a lively game of soccer took center stage, skillfully facilitated by Baroody Camps, Inc, an event sponsor. Participants of all ages dribbled, passed, and scored under the guidance of experienced coaches, making it a fun and engaging experience for everyone involved.

Thanks to generous donations from our longstanding partners, Fairfax PotBelly and Cake4Kids’, there was a variety of tasty foods to satisfy every appetite. From sandwiches and salads to sweet treats, everyone enjoyed a feast that brought smiles and satisfied stomachs.

For a bit of nostalgic fun, families played hopscotch, hopping along the colorful chalk lines and giggling at missed jumps and successful leaps. Creative spirits also took center stage with craft activities, including making homemade frisbees—a perfect souvenir to take home and keep the fun going.

We appreciate all the Department of Family Services’ Children, Youth, and Families’ Prevention staff who volunteered side by side with us to ensure everything ran smoothly. VPS couldn’t have done it without your support!

The day was a meaningful reminder of the power of community, connection, and shared joy. We thank everyone who participated and contributed to making this event memorable. We look forward to many more days of fun, friendship, and growth together!
