Community Meeting Held Nov. 9, 2017; Presentation Available

Mason District Supervisor Penelope A. Gross and the Fairfax County Department of Transportation hosted a community meeting to discuss the Backlick Road Walkway project on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017, 7:30 p.m., in the Main Community Room of the Mason District Governmental Center, 6507 Columbia Pike, Annandale. The project will construct new sidewalk and drainage improvements along the east side of Backlick Road between Cindy Lane and Degroff Court.

The design of the proposed improvements was presented at the meeting. Local residents and affected property owners were invited to ask questions and provide input related to the project. Please use the online submission form on this page or call FCDOT at 703-877-5600 with any questions.

Project Background

This project completes a missing sidewalk link along the east side of Backlick Road. The project will construct approximately 750 linear feet of new 6 foot wide sidewalk between Degroff Court and Cindy Lane. Other infrastructure improvements are required to provide an accessible path, including new curb and gutter, curb ramps, driveway entrance reconstruction and drainage improvements. Construction of the proposed pedestrian facility will require right of way acquisition, utility relocations and tree removal.

This project was identified as part of the Fairfax County’s 2014 Transportation Bond.
