Other Businesses Inspected by the Health Department

Several facilities and businesses are required to get an inspection from Fairfax County Health Department before opening or renewing a permit. The Health Department conducts inspections and complaint investigations for general sanitation, infestations and health and safety hazards for these facilities and businesses listed below.

Massage Establishments

Massage Establishments are permitted by the Fairfax County Department of Cable and Consumer Services, although the Health Department does inspect these businesses.

Facilities and Businesses That Need a Sanitation Inspection

A number of facilities and businesses permitted and regulated by the Virginia Department of Social Services or other Virginia agencies are required to obtain a sanitation inspection from the Health Department before opening or renewing a permit with those agencies.

The Health Department conducts these sanitation inspections only by request and complaint investigations are conducted by the permitting or regulating agency. Members of the public who have concerns about the cleanliness and/or safety of a facility or business must contact the permitting or regulating agency.
