DPWES Projects

The Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) builds and maintains safe, reliable infrastructure that protects public health and the environment, improves quality of life for residents. Capital Facilities refers to the construction of publicly-funded governmental facility projects such as libraries, courts, police and fire stations, and infrastructure improvement projects such as roads, sanitary sewer extensions, walkways, bus stop shelters and storm water management improvement projects.

Headwaters of Popes Head Creek at Brecon Ridge Subdivision Stream Restoration Project Headwaters of Popes Head Creek at Brecon Ridge Subdivision Stream Restoration Project The project will restore approximately 3,000 linear feet of Popes Head Creek, stabilize stormwater outfalls, and re-establish the stream valley floodplain connection and riparian corridor. Jones Point Facilities Rehabilitation Jones Point Facilities Rehabilitation The Jones Point Facilities Rehabilitation project will replace the existing Jones Point Pump Station with a new pump station. Judicial Complex Redevelopment Judicial Complex Redevelopment The Judicial Complex is a 47.8 acre portion of Fairfax County surrounded by the City of Fairfax. The new Master Plan provides the County with a 20-year road map for future growth and development of the site. Building Projects Providence District
Kent Garden Neighborhood Stormwater Improvement Project Kent Garden Neighborhood Stormwater Improvement Project This neighborhood stormwater improvement project will evaluate the existing concrete channel that conveys the majority of flow in the neighborhood and will improve the capacity of the system thereby reducing localized flooding and addressing public safety Stormwater Projects Dranesville District
Kings Manor Neighborhood Stormwater Improvements Kings Manor Neighborhood Stormwater Improvements The proposed flood improvement project is in the Dead Run watershed within the Kings Manor neighborhood. During recent major rainfall events the existing stormwater conveyance system was overwhelmed and many homes experienced structural flooding. Stormwater Projects Dranesville District
Lake Barcroft Odor Control Project Lake Barcroft Odor Control Project The goal of the project is to mitigate sewer related odors along an approximate one-mile-long area within the Holmes Run Stream Valley Park south of Columbia Pike. Wastewater Projects Mason District
Lakevale Estates Collection Improvements Project Lakevale Estates Collection Improvements Project The Lakevale Estates Pump Station was identified for rehabilitation due to its age and was upgraded in 2019. Lincoln-Lewis-Vannoy (LLV) System Improvements – Phase I Lincoln-Lewis-Vannoy (LLV) System Improvements – Phase I The intent of phase I of this project is to reduce system pressure and the risk of sewer main breaks.
