Happy New Year! In the spirit of new beginnings, Volunteer & Partner Services is looking for donors to help put together baby boxes to help local families.
Baby supplies are costly and for many families getting transportation to the store with little ones can be a challenge. So very many families with infants including foster families, young mothers, and other families in need would be grateful to receive these items.
Assembling baby boxes can be a great project for an individual or an office team, a youth group, or other local service organizations. Once assembled, you (or your group) would coordinate with members of the VPS team to deliver items to our office located in the Fairfax County Government Center Complex.
How do you make a baby box?
A baby box can be made out of any storage container such as a baby bathtub or a recycled diaper box. You can create the baby boxes on your own time filling them with items all babies can use. Check out the list below for ideas!
Suggested Baby Box Items (must be new):
- Onesies
- Baby bathtubs & hygiene products
- Clothes and socks
- Formula and baby food
- Pacifiers/teething rings and burp cloths
- Receiving and swaddling blankets
- Bottles and cleaning supplies
- Diapers and baby wipes
- Baby Tylenol, nail clippers, and thermometers
- Baby gates
- Educational toys and books
We are also accepting donations for some larger baby items such as new car seats, highchairs, strollers, and playpens.
Please email Samantha Carrico or call 703-324-7576 for additional information.
