Building Connections through the MLK Day of Service
Volunteer and Partner Services staff and volunteers represented The Children, Youth and Families Division of the Fairfax County Department of Family Services at the Volunteer Fairfax MLK Jr. Day of Service. It was a truly inspirational day in which nearly 800 community participants came together to address critical community needs through service. Learn more.

Parenting Education Programs Welcomes New Volunteers at Interactive Training
The Parenting Education Programs are based on the philosophy that parenting is learned, and the way parents were raised directly influences the way they raise their children. Our parenting classes are designed to help parents learn and practice healthy parenting strategies. Volunteers are essential to the program. Learn more.
Planting Pinwheel Gardens for Child Abuse Prevention
During Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, we appreciate corporate and community partners that help raise awareness of community resources supporting children and families. Groups or individuals can display a pinwheel garden and signage at your Fairfax County business, house of worship, school, or organization. You can share information on social media, in newsletters and publications and more. For more information about ways to partner with the Department of Family Services online.

The Volunteer Post Newsletter is part of the Department of Family Services Volunteer & Partner Services Program (VPS) - managing volunteer programs (Administrative Assistant Program, BeFriend-A-Child Mentoring Program, Body Safety Program - Speak Up Be Safe, recruiting and training volunteers for programs (Father Engagement Program and Parenting Education Programs); and working with partners, sponsors and donors to help in special efforts (Adopt-A-Family Program, Baby box initiative, back-to-school backpacks).
