soilsFairfax County offers an online description and rating for soil types. The ratings are useful in determining the general suitability for development on particular soils in an urban area. Information is also available on asbestos, radon, and soil erosion.

To report hazardous materials leaks and spills, dial 911. To report illegal dumping, call the Heath Department at 703-246-2300.
