This amendment will include updates to the Zoning Ordinance as required by the State, in response to new legislation that was adopted through the 2026 Virginia General Assembly Session. Eight amendments to the Code of Virginia, become effective on July 1, 2026, that necessitate changes to how Fairfax County implements the Zoning Ordinance. It is important to note that referenced amendments to the Code of Virginia are applicable as dictated by the General Assembly regardless of whether or not the Zoning Ordinance has been amended to address them. The table below includes: a list of the new legislation addressed by this amendment, links to each legislation’s text as approved by the General Assembly, and a brief summary of each legislation.
