On April 11, 2023, the Board of Supervisors removed 2022-I-L1 from the 2023 Comprehensive Plan Amendment Work Program.

On January 25, 2022, the Board of Supervisors authorized the consideration of a Comprehensive Plan amendment for 6446 Edsall Road (Tax Map Parcel 81-1 ((6)) 2) in the Mason Supervisor District. The adopted Plan recommends that commercial development near I-395 should be limited to the existing commercially zoned parcels, such as the subject parcel in the L3 - Bren Mar Park Community Planning Sector within the Lincolnia Planning District of the Area I volume of the Comprehensive Plan. The Plan Map shows this property planned for retail and other commercial uses. The Board requested that staff consider an appropriate level of multifamily residential use for the subject property. The analysis should include, as a priority, mitigation of highway related noise, consistent with County policy. The Plan amendment will be evaluated concurrently with an application to rezone the property, once such an application has been filed.
