DPWES Projects

The Department of Public Works and Environmental Services (DPWES) builds and maintains safe, reliable infrastructure that protects public health and the environment, improves quality of life for residents. Capital Facilities refers to the construction of publicly-funded governmental facility projects such as libraries, courts, police and fire stations, and infrastructure improvement projects such as roads, sanitary sewer extensions, walkways, bus stop shelters and storm water management improvement projects.

Little Pimmit Run Tributary at Woodland Terrace Stream Restoration Little Pimmit Run Tributary at Woodland Terrace Stream Restoration The project will restore up to approximately 1,000 linear feet of an unnamed tributary to Little Pimmit Run between Forest Lane and North Albemarle Street in McLean. Long Branch Central Watershed Management Area Project Long Branch Central Watershed Management Area Project This project will restore about 34,000 linear feet of stream in the watershed which runs from Maple Avenue on the west to Wakefield Chapel Road on the east. Long Branch North at Arlington Blvd and Robin Ridge Court Stream Restoration (SD-000031-219) Long Branch North at Arlington Blvd and Robin Ridge Court Stream Restoration (SD-000031-219) The project includes restoration of 4,500 linear feet of Long Branch, its tributaries, stormwater outfalls and the floodplain within the stream valley between Dogwood Lane and Route 50 (Arlington Boulevard). Long Branch North at I66 Stream Restoration Project Long Branch North at I66 Stream Restoration Project The project will restore approximately 2,400 linear feet of degraded channel of Long Branch and its tributaries between I-66 and Old Lee Highway. Stormwater Projects Providence District
Merrifield Gravity Sewer Capacity Upgrade Merrifield Gravity Sewer Capacity Upgrade The Merrifield Gravity Sewer Capacity Upgrade Project provides an upsizing of approximately 600 LF of 12-inch diameter gravity sewer serving the Merrifield area using pilot tube microtunneling. Oak Marr Pump Station Rehabilitation (WW-0000001-017) Oak Marr Pump Station Rehabilitation (WW-0000001-017) The purpose of this project is to maintain the level of sewer service for the Oak Marr Courts community by refurbishing the 35-year-old sanitary sewer pump station. Old Courthouse Spring Branch at Ashgrove Historic Park Stream Restoration Old Courthouse Spring Branch at Ashgrove Historic Park Stream Restoration The project will restore about 2,000 linear feet of natural stream channel, replace the culvert under Ashgrove Lane and repair the trail. Patrick Henry Family Shelter Replacement Patrick Henry Family Shelter Replacement The new “Patrick Henry Place” program for families will provide 16 permanent supportive housing units for families experiencing homelessness in an approximately 25,000 square-foot facility.
